Flooding
Here are some photos to go with the bit about sewage treatment in Dhaka. They're not great, but they'll give you the idea. I took them from the window of our apartment.
Two 'bideshis' (Bengali for 'foreigner') from Colorado and Kentucky, respectively, who had an itch to learn a new language and get to know another part of the world. A Fulbright grant to Bangladesh looked like the perfect opportunity, funding Jen's doctoral fieldwork in sociolinguistics (stylistic variation in the Bangladeshi bazaar). Meanwhile, Ben, a former teacher and current 'kept man', looks forward to a year of blues-guitar playing and Bengali-learning. Stay tuned!
